Apartments and apartments located in the attic have recently experienced a renaissance. Rooms full of bevels, once considered difficult to arrange, are now regarded as atmospheric interiors with beautiful views of the countryside. To decorate them properly, you need to take care not only of furniture and accessories, but also properly selected lighting – preferably full of unique lamps. So today all about the topic: attic lighting.

Main lighting of the attic apartment

The appropriate choice of lamps, which are the main lighting of the rooms, is particularly important in the case of the attic. Roof windows (both slope and facade) can often be too small to provide the optimal amount of light, even during the day.

In such a situation, the right choice of ceiling and pendant lamps is of great importance. In the attic, pendant lamps on long cables work best as the main lighting. They take up much less space than traditional chandeliers or ceiling lights – and often, due to the construction of the roof, space is scarce at the ceiling in the attic. In addition, several lamps on long ropes allow you to optically change the proportions of the room – in this case, significantly lower the high ceiling.

One more important suggestion when it comes to attic lighting. Always choose pendant lamps to match the style of the rest of the interior. Just pay attention to choose rather light, translucent lampshades. Dark color versions are less likely to dissipate twilight – and that will be your main goal when installing lighting! If you decorate interiors in loft or industrial style and dreamed of pendant lamps straight from an old factory, ie. with metal shades, you may also want to consider a slightly different model. A good idea for attic lighting in your case, for example, would be to buy lamps without shades, equipped only with decorative bulbs – for example, the “light” lamp. Edison’s light bulbs.

Floor and standing lamps – which attic lighting will work best?

Standing and floor lamps – especially handmade lamps – are an important part of attic lighting. They illuminate the space wherever the light stream from the main lighting does not reach. They are ideal as reading lamps. They will also perfectly complement decorations and help brighten up interiors that are too dark. So which standing and floor lamps to choose for the attic?

  • if you are decorating your attic apartment in a style that pays homage to nature, so japanese, natural or boho, pay attention to models made of such materials as jute, rattan or wicker. A floor lamp with a woven lampshade, such as rattan, will be great for reading. If the lamp is to serve mainly decorative functions and emit only soft, muffled light, bet on interesting models made of jute, bamboo, or ceramic.
  • Standing lamps in the loft and industrial style are primarily tripod models, with their shape resembling photographic tripods. The most functional models have an adjustable shade, so you can decide the angle of the light beam at any time.
  • You will illuminate the interior in the glamour style with a standing lamp with crystals. Simple standing lamps with a bright lampshade and gold or silver-colored arm will also look great. The glamour style in the attic can prove to be an exceptionally apt choice – crystals and glitter, of which there is never too much in this type of interior, are great for brightening up rooms.
  • Not sure what style of lamps to choose for your interiors? Opt for classic models that never go out of style! These will be simple lamps with a long, thin arm and a fabric lampshade. When choosing them, just remember that a light lampshade further brightens the interior, while a dark one absorbs the light.

Wall lamps-an important part of attic lighting!

Wall lamps are great especially in rooms with small bevels and where there is no more room for hanging lamps. There are two types of wall sconces that you should first of all consider when decorating your attic.

Adjustable wall lamps – will be ideal in places such as the desk and work space, the area around the dressing table, the bathroom or the bedside table where a traditional lamp will no longer fit. The adjustment will make it easier for you to set the right angle of the light beam and change it as needed.

Upstairs-downstairs wall lamps are a second good solution in an attic apartment. These types of wall lamps are great for places where it is difficult to place other light sources, such as alcoves or above shelves. Installed directly on the wall, such as in the living room, they will also optically change the proportions of the room. Thanks to the fact that the light will be directed, among other things. towards the top, the ceiling, the interior will visually appear higher.

Attic spot lighting – a solution not to be missed

Spot attic lighting is the most common type of lighting in interiors with slants. And there’s nothing surprising about that. Spotlights, spots or flush-mounted fixtures are ideal both as single points of illumination for a specific zone and as… main lighting! You can install them all over the ceiling instead of one main lamp or chandelier. This way you won’t lose an inch of your already limited space. In addition, you will make the entire interior fully and evenly lit.

Where else can you use spot lighting? Use luminaires of this type in rooms such as the kitchen or bathroom. They will also work great mounted over a bed (as a substitute for a bedside lamp) or over a desk. In this case, instead of single spots or spotlights, use strips consisting of several light points.

Using LED tapes or strips can also be an interesting solution. Place them as additional lighting for cabinets or alcoves, or make them a remarkable light decoration on the wall.

Lighting an attic that is full of bevels only seems difficult and time-consuming. If you choose the right types of lamps, you will create a beautifully lit, atmospheric interior in your favorite style.
